Create High-Quality 3D Animations with AImation Studio

AImation Studio enables you to create high-quality 3D skeletal animations using just a webcam.
By using machine learning, advanced mathematics, and computer vision, we make motion capture easier, faster, and more accessible than ever before.
You can record using a single camera or scale up to two or more for more complex animations, with options for body, finger, or full-body tracking.
Our 3D editor for Windows allows you to easily record, preview, post-process, and stream finished animations into Unreal Engine or other platforms.

Markerless motion capture
Our software uses multiple MediaPipe AI models for real-time motion estimation and runs on Windows desktops using either a CPU or GPU. The GPU option achieves impressive performance, with processing times of just 60ms per frame. Both options also work at resolutions as low as 320x240.
Each camera frame is processed in real time, extracting 75 bone positions and capturing as much temporal data as possible for post-processing.

Easy post-processing
Post-processing takes place in a dedicated viewport, where you can preview footage from all cameras alongside the generated raw animations. This is where you can transform raw motion data into polished animations that drive advanced character models, such as Epic Games’ MetaHuman.
The transformation system is organized around tasks and tracks, which are also iterative and non-destructive. You can easily apply algorithms (tasks) to tracks with a simple button, generating new tracks, each containing a unique animation. This gives you plenty of room to experiment with the motion capture data.

Finished animations can be exported as FBX/BVH files or streamed directly into Unreal Engine.
The LiveLink plugin is included, with an example blueprint for retargeting motion data onto models using Unreal’s inverse kinematics tools.

In-app recording
AImation Studio’s recording system is designed to work with cheap, plug-and-play webcams. By prioritizing webcams, we've made sure that our system supports a wide range of devices and formats, making it easier to implement more advanced sensors in the future.
We’ve worked with resolutions up to 1080p at 60fps and as low as 320x240 at 120fps. We do not expect any issues with higher resolutions, but we haven't tested them yet.
In the near future, we plan to release a mobile application for Android that records and streams to our software.

Future
As we start early access, we want to get your feedback and see how you use AImation Studio and what needs improvement. During this time, we plan to also release the following key features:

  • Inverse kinematics (IK) and retargeting
  • Mesh display
  • Face tracking
